Bedside beauty

If you're anywhere near as nosy as I am, I'm sure you're a frequent reader of articles where people divulge the beauty contents of their bathroom cabinets or handbags (case in point: I'm going to Europe in just over a month and I've already been watching "What's in my carry-on luggage" videos on repeat for weeks.*) So I thought you might enjoy a tour of the drawers of my bedside table for a sneaky peek at some of my pre-bedtime favourites.

Some recent favourites

I felt as though after my recent blogging hiatus, it made the most sense to jump back into things with a recent favourites roundup. Every so often over the past few months I've thought to myself, "I must mention this on the blog!" - so here they are ...

Teas for dreaming about the colder months

Much of my social media timelines are currently filled with Northern Hemisphere residents excitedly grasping at any sign of spring's arrival, from cheering daffodils and mimosa bouquets, to longer days and brighter evenings. Here in Australia, we are slowly heading into the cooler months and I am impatient for the end of summer and its blistering heat - yet we're currently in the first week of autumn* and the forecast is predicting temperatures of above 35°c. To console myself, I've put together a list of some of my favourite wintery teas to remind myself that the cold, and all the loveliness it brings with it, is not far away, and to wish for autumn's swift arrival.

French Sole: my new ballet flat loves

Most days, you'll probably find me sporting a pair of ballet flats - they're comfortable, feminine, go with almost everything and instantly make any outfit more polished. I've been a fan of Repetto for many years and still have a few staple pairs in my collection, but as soon as I heard about French Sole I was eager to try out their offerings. French Sole ballet flats have graced the feet of Princess Diana, the Duchess of Cambridge and Pippa Middleton, while Olivia Palermo and Kate Moss are also big fans. Alice Naylor-Leyland and Rosie Fortescue (of Made in Chelsea fame) also have designed collections for them which I am very tempted by (look at these sweet slippers!). So I put in an order as a Christmas present to myself and am absolutely smitten with my shoes.

Well, I decided to elaborate upon the subject a bit today and have got a new video for you about some speedy, fuss-free beauty "hacks" - because sometimes you just need something quick and easy to make you feel a bit more presentable.
Let me know if you have any particular video requests and please subscribe if you have yet to do so.

Ladies Like Us by Alena Kate Pettitt: the finishing school for modern ladies

Sometimes I stumble across something that I wish I'd known when I was younger - some idea or advice that I know would have helped guide or inspire me when I was a teenager, when I was much more impressionable and unsure than I am now. I recently read Ladies Like Us by Alena Kate Pettitt and regret only that I hadn't had it available to me aged 13, when I was lost as to the type of person I wanted to become.

Some favourite apps

This is going to be a very short post - although I've teasingly titled it "favourite apps", there are really only three that I'm really excited about. My phone is pretty light on apps as a general rule and the rest are a very stock standard mix of social media and the native apps that come with the phone. That being said, I thought it still worth the while to tell you about three apps I love and that I find interesting in the hope that you'll share your favourites with me - as with all things, the best finds are usually from personal recommendations.
