August 2014 favourites.

L'OrĂ©al Paris Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer //

At the first signs of spring weather, I want dewy skin and a bit of shimmer. This beautiful primer adds life to another wise matte foundation and makes the skin look incredibly healthy and glowy. While I tend to put this all over, it could definitely be used as a highlighter as well.

Benefit They're Real! mascara //

I love big lashes and this mascara definitely lives up to the hype. I wipe a bit of product off the wand, then go in for 2-3 good coats for long and separated eyelashes, that keep a curl for most of the day. My only qualm is that it is incredibly difficult to get off, but a good dose of waterproof makeup remover and patience will get you there in the end.

Clinique Chubby Stick Lip Colour Balm in Woppin' Watermelon //

I have tried out 'chubby sticks' from other brands, but nothing compares to this. This is my go-to for days where I want just a whisper of colour to emphasise my lips just that little bit. While other balms are too pigmented, this is perfectly subtle without being entirely unnoticeable.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation //

An oldie but a goodie. This is definitely very glowy - if you examine it carefully you will note that there are tiny glitter particles in it. Whilst it might sound concerning to have glitter smeared over your face, it actually gives a very beautiful (and subtle) effect.  This is a perfect base for when it's still cool enough to justify adding a bit of shine to the face, but springy enough for it to feel 'seasonal'.

Soap and Glory 'The Breakfast Scrub' //

As it's getting warmer, we want to get our legs out a bit more, so we start out exfoliation routines again. And look, to be honest, it's much of a muchness when it comes to sugar scrubs - they all tend to work pretty much the same, and making your own at home is a great idea. What sets this Soap and Glory exfoliator apart is its intoxicating maple scent. Worth every penny just for that.

What have you been enjoying in August? Any top picks for the winter-to-spring period?
