My favourite non-traditional sunscreens

Sunscreens have progressed in leaps and bounds in the past couple of years. Gone are the days of gloopy, thick layers of cream - we now have a whole host of light, high-tech products offering high SPF.

Powder on //

It's mid-afternoon, you've got a face of makeup on and you realise you need an extra dose of sun protection. Never fear. Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF is a handbag must have - it applies as a translucent powder and provides instant SPF protection.

Dry to the touch //

A common complaint is that sunscreens are too heavy and sticky, especially under makeup. It looks like things might be changing, if this next product is anything to go by. La Roche-Posay's Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Extreme Fluid is light - unnervingly light, it might be said - and is dry within seconds of application.

For sensitive skins //

Avene High Protection Cream for Sensitive Areas is what I'd go for with sensitive and intolerant skin, scars or very thin skin, thanks to it's mild formulation. It may potentially the perfect sunscreen for under the eyes, as well.

What are some new sun protection products you've been loving of late? Or do you prefer old-school sunscreens?
