La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Tinted Fluid

I had tried another version of this product earlier this year, but had been put off by the spray-on format – I found it inappropriate for daily use, but liked the formula itself. I had seen the tinted fluid raved about recently and remembered it particularly because of the unusual bottle shape. When my trusty Neutrogena Ultra Sheer ran out, I decided to give it a try.

The first thing that I noticed was the size. It came in a very disproportionate box for the humble 50mL of product that was housed inside. But little worry. The next observation was the liquid was tinted (it does say this on the bottle, but still). I was initially a little concerned, given I would wear it under foundation, but even for a pale girl like me, the colour is very subtle and sinks into the skin. It is definitely safe for layering.

La Roche-Posay touts the fluid as ‘ultra-light’ and they are not wrong there. Anthelios XL leaves the driest touch of all the sunscreens I have come across so far. You apply it and moments later you can’t feel it anymore.

As with all sunscreens, it is much of a muchness when it comes to how well the product protects the skin. However, La Roche-Posay have nailed it with this dry-touch sunscreen. If you’re searching for a low-maintenance base product with a high SPF, this is the one for you.

Have you tried Anthelios XL? What are your thoughts?
