October Nails

Oh, October - where days can still be cold and wet, yet summer is undeniably on its ways. Being in between seasons can be difficult, notably when I have my annual debate as to when is too soon to change to summer bedding and pyjamas (life's hard sometimes). In a way, though, it gives me the freedom to wear wintery dark polishes followed by bright colours, while feeling entirely seasonal. Here's what adorned my nails this month:

Nails Inc Alexa Cashmere

I love Alexa, cashmere and Nails Inc so I felt compelled to pick this up when Nails Inc were having a sale. It was only when I got home that I realised the colour is almost identical to Nails Inc Porchester Square, with Alexa Cashmere running just slightly more pink. As the name suggests, the texture is supposed to have a cashmere effect, and it came out matte and a little gritty. While I can't say I'm in love with the idea, the polish consequently does dry very quickly and lasted for longer than most polishes.

Essie Status Symbol

Barbie pink isn't usually my thing, but I saw Alix of I Covet Thee wear it in a couple of her videos and that induced me to fish it out of my stash. It is perhaps not the most chic or subtle polish out there, but it certainly is fun.

Essie Blanc

This is a divisive colour among nail polish lovers, but I find it cool and it conveniently goes with everything. I also like to think of it as an edgy take on a spring pastel.

Barry M Blueberry

I'd been wearing a lot of nudes and pinks and I thought, why not sky blue nails? These Gel Hi-Shine polishes are incredible, long-lasting and have a host of beautiful shades - I wish we sold Barry M in Australia.

Essie Plumberry

Plumberry had been gathering dust at the back of my cupboard for a while and I'd had this in my mind as being more of a pink polish, but when applied, it is much more of blue-based red. I can't believe I hadn't got more use out of it - it's a classic perennial colour I'll be reaching for more frequently from now on.

I realise there is a disproportionate amount of Essie polishes this month - I do have a lot of Essie in my nail polish collection, but I shall endeavour to vary it more in the coming months!
