My morning routine for great skin

My obsession with skincare has reached new extremes of late. I've been doing my research (reading dermatological articles, beauty reviews and digging through the archives of various beauty blogs) and have curated a skincare 'wardrobe' of sorts - a streamlined routine for glowing, clear skin. This is vital for me as I feel that it's only once I have a solid routine in place that I can get the absolutely most out of my makeup.

Cleansing in the morning is a moot point in beauty circles - I personally use a tiny dot of the OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel, which is light yet nourishing. On dried skin, I'll then spritz an hydrating toner, such as La Roche-Posay Serozinc or LUSH Eau Roma - these are fantastic for giving an extra source of moisture for thirsty skin to draw on throughout the day.

I will then opt for a powerful, antioxidant-heavy serum - I'm currently loving Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Anti-Wrinkle Defense Serum. This is key for fighting off damage caused by free radicals, stemming from sun exposure or pollution. I use topical products to supplement antioxidant-rich foods (think berries, kale, salmon and green tea) for optimum protection. For extra comfort, I then add a light veil of Kate Somerville Goat Cream - its light texture and rapid absorption make it the ideal daytime moisturiser.

Finally, the step I value the most: SPF. I would feel naked without daily sun protection, particularly in the blinding Australian summer sun. For those new to or hesitant about SPF, dermatologist Dr Sam Bunting has some comprehensive videos on fail-safe products, and how to properly use sunscreen under makeup. Not a day goes by where I wouldn't use sun protection - at the moment, I'm reaching for Clarins Sunscreen Control Cream for Face.

I will share my evening routine next, which I have also recently somewhat overhauled. Since implementing this regimen, I've been more comfortable going foundation-free so naturally, I'm over the moon and intend to stick with it.
