March favourites

March has been a bit of a whirlwind - the first month back at university is always busy, but I've enjoyed settling back into my studies for another year. The relentless heat has abated and I'm looking forward to the properly cooler weather. In terms of favourites, I've been mostly enjoying items that I've had for years (if you're not aware, I'm attempting to not shop 'recreationally' for one month).

Lessons from Madame Chic by Jennifer L. Scott
I stumbled across Jennifer on Youtube and in a short period of time, I'd made my way through every single one of her videos. She covers many areas that interest me, like minimalism, cooking, literature,  etiquette, fashion and French culture - but her overall message is to make everyday life beautiful. I've just finished her first book, Lessons from Madame Chic, and am looking forward to reading her two others.

Alberta Ferretti's EDP
I'd previously been given a few bottles as gifts while in high school, but Alberta Ferretti was the first perfume I bought myself. It was at a time that everyone was talking about the Marc Jacobs fragrances (Tumblr was awash with the whimsical campaign for Daisy, featuring Frida Gustavsson), but I instead decided to pick out something myself. I've never seen or heard anyone talk about this perfume, but it is a cozy, feminine fragrance. The top notes include bergamot and freesia (a flower that features in almost all my favourite scents), and I hazard a guess that the warmness comes from the amber base. It's a comforting perfume I gravitate to in the cooler months.

Clarins' Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil
There are some who loathe fragrance in products. While I understand and respect that perspective, I am very much not one of those people - when it comes to skincare, beautiful scents are as important to me as the efficacy of the product itself. This face oil from Clarins is a longtime favourite as it nourishes dehydrated skin wonderfully and absorbs fast - I know many people hate having product sitting on the face for hours after application. Its botanical, spa-like scent is what pleases me the most and has ensured it a spot in my bathroom cupboard for the foreseeable future.
