April favourites

Some months I discover many new and exciting products, while in others I quietly appreciate the tried and true stalwarts that never disappoint. This month largely fits into the latter category, and in compiling this list of favourites I realised I wasn't giving enough airtime on this blog to some of the best products in my beauty cupboard and makeup bag. It only seemed fair this month to highlight these three unceasingly excellent products.

Almost everyday in March and April, I used Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm, apparently the original of the plethora of Korean BB creams. This isn't the best product for coverage, but it's perfect for "good skin days", or if you like your everyday base to be light. My skin looks nicely glowy all day, and it doesn't wear off badly or settle into pores; I don't panic mid-afternoon about the cakey state of my base, which I often do with many foundations. My only gripe is that the colour isn't a perfect match; they only have only colour which apparently suits all skin tones, but it comes up a tad orange of me. That being said, if you buff it in correctly, it's sheer enough that this shouldn't be a problem. A reliable choice for everyday wear.

Recently I've been putting aside my powders in favour of cream products, as they have a more natural and prettier texture on the skin. I've really been impressed by Stila's Convertible Colour in Gerbera, a blue-toned peach blush. It's an excellent colour match for my complexion, and it nicely mimics the natural flush of my cheeks. While cream blushes don't provide the same longevity as a powder, I was pleasently surprised at just how long this one did last on my skin - a good six or seven hours after application. This blush and the Dr. Jart Beauty Balm have definitely been my "no-makeup makeup" secret weapons of late.

Another oldie a goodie is the 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask from Sanctuary Spa. A few times this month, I've felt that skin was about to start playing up and this mask has efficiently stopped any breakout in their tracks, thank goodness. As well as being effective, it's quick to use (as the name suggests), and has a funny warming sensation on the skin upon application, which I quite enjoy as it feels all the more purifying. And it's inexpensive (and often on sale at Priceline).

Please share your favourites of the month below!
