Beauty in five minutes or less

Somedays I'm all for spending an hour putting on three consecutive face masks, deep conditioning my hair, then meticulously tending to my nails - but most days I don't have the time or energy to do more than a simple skincare routine. I realised however that I regularly undertake a few beauty tasks that take anywhere from a few seconds to a five minutes - far more manageable in my mind, and I still getting something out the way. If you've got a few minutes to spare, maybe think of trying out one of these quickly accomplished tasks?

(Also, I'm conscious that it ought to be "five minutes or fewer" but at the risk of sounding pedantic, I've opted for the more common turn of phrase. :P)

Cut your split ends // I have a pair of not too expensive hair dressing scissors that I use to cut split ends from my hair when ever I come across them. This is usually when I'm supposed to be working or studying, so in a way it's procrastinating and I find it immensely satisfying! But in all seriousness, if you try to chop off five or so damaged ends from your hair everyday, it'll save you at the hairdressers in the long run.

Polish your nails // Oh, I've gone on about Dior's Nail Glow already, but it really is one of the best products for when you're in a hurry. Somedays I want my nails to be groomed without having to do a full-blown manicure, and this is what I invariably reach for. I wouldn't be nervous painting a few coats on and immediately rushing out the door, as it's quick drying and even if it smudges, it'd be unnoticeable.

Top up your sunscreen // It can be hard to follow the experts' advice and reapply sunscreen throughout the day, especially onto a madeup face. That said, I always carry a rollerball of SPF in my handbag, which is ideal for using on the backs of my hands, neck, and other areas of exposed skin. If I've got a few spare moments on the bus or in the bathroom, I can top up my sunscreen in a matter of minutes and feel much more confident that I'm not getting too much sun exposure.

Please share your favourite quick beauty tasks - I think it's nice to have a little bank of inspiration for when you're short on time but keen to at least do something, so I'd love to add your recommendations to my list!
