Bedside beauty

If you're anywhere near as nosy as I am, I'm sure you're a frequent reader of articles where people divulge the beauty contents of their bathroom cabinets or handbags (case in point: I'm going to Europe in just over a month and I've already been watching "What's in my carry-on luggage" videos on repeat for weeks.*) So I thought you might enjoy a tour of the drawers of my bedside table for a sneaky peek at some of my pre-bedtime favourites.

Eye mask: Since I started wearing them maybe four or five years ago, I can no longer sleep without an eye mask to block out light. I adore mine from Holistic Silk - I find that their masks block out light better than others I've tried, and are also just the most gorgeous, luxurious creations. They're expensive but in terms of cost-per-wear, I must now be in the pennies category. I purchased mine (I chose the Silver Blossom design) from Cult Beauty.

Hand creams and nail treatments: I cycle between few different hand creams, depending on my mood on any given evening. Most nights I use either Josie Maran's Whipped Argan Oil Intensive Hand Cream and Ashley & Co's Blossom and Gilt Hand Cream - a cool Kiwi product my friend gave me for my birthday that smells like gorgeous white flowers. Both are light and quick to absorb, whilst still being nourishing. On nights where I'm not wearing any nail polish, I like to go for something heavier and reparative (I like to wait a day before reapplying polish to rehydrate my hands and to avoid staining my nails). Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme smells and looks like marzipan in a jar, and is a much richer texture than the others, a delight on parched hands. On polish-free evenings, I'll also reach for my Dior Crème Abricot, which works miracles on dry cuticles and nails. It's a bit of a sticky product, so I'll always pop on a pair of cotton gloves over the top so as not to get it on my sheets.

Lips: About once a week I use a little of Bite Beauty's Agave Lip Mask as an intensive treatment. Most days, though, I reach for either the By Terry Baume de Rose or my beloved Raspberry Rosé Lip Butter from Nivea, both of which smell delicious.

Spray: I don't use the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray every single night, but it is certainly lovely when I do. I don't suffer from insomnia myself - in fact, I'm a fairly solid sleeper in general - but it certainly helps me feel calmer and cosier pre-bedtime.

Books: No self-respecting bedside table is complete without a good selection of bedtime reading material. The bottom draw of my nightstand is currently home to three books: a massive tome of The Kings & Queens of the British Isles by Thomas Cussans that my friend (who is a big history and royalty nerd like myself) gave me; Inès de la Fressange's Parisian Chic Look Book, for some sartorial inspiration; and Alexandra Shulman's Inside Vogue: My Diary of Vogue's 100th year.

Aside from a variety of bookmarks, you've now seen the entirety of the contents of my bedside table and my nighttime beauty routine. Now for me to be curious: what products do you use before bedtime?

*Do let me know if you'd be interested in a look at my on-flight beauty bag! Curating what products I bring is one of my most exciting pre-trip rituals, and having some lovely things to pamper myself with is one of the few ways to make the loooong flight to Europe somewhat more bearable.
